Tonight I had the opportunity to go to a home that I love, to be with women that I love, and hear about the God I love.
He is a creative God. He made humpback whales and vampire bats. He made earthworms and giraffes.
He made seahorses and wolverines.
He makes rainbows appear from out of nowhere and he makes gorgeous red roses bloom.
He makes thunder, lightning, hail, and rain.
He makes the wind blow. He makes the birds sing. He makes the snow sparkle like diamonds.
I want to be creative, too. I want to shoo away those lame excuses that pop into my head when I think about tackling this project or that one.
I want to do those things and be those things, but I'm just now learning.
I'm just now learning that I don't have to be absolutely amazing at something to admit it's my hobby or that I enjoy it.
I can say, "Hey, I love to cook dinner!" even though I have a lot to learn.
I can say, "Hey, I love to garden!" even though I have raised beds and BUY my plants.
The things that make me tick are not the things that make you tick. I happen to care about things that most of my friends don't care about. And that's not only OK, it's a good thing. It's the whole point. He made us all different. We each have our own unique gifts that we are free to nurture and use to the fullest!
We are not cookie cutter people, meeting together to read books about how to become like one another. We meet together to read books about how to become more like the God who made us. And I like that.
Until I learn to care about decorating, I appreciate that Danica is willing to decorate my table for Molly's tea party.
Until I hone my sewing skills, I appreciate that Carol is willing to put Eric's button back on his wool coat.
Until I get a CLUE about fashion, I appreciate that Skogs is willing to chat with Molly about designer jeans.
And until I learn to knit, I appreciate that Julie will take a call during her busy day to help my girls who are stuck.
I have some pretty great friends. The Creator made them great.
I think I'm ready to let Him make me great, too.

Thanks for sharing this! You've totally inspired me to look into buying this book again! Maybe, just maybe, I'll be at next month's meeting!
@mrsdmf72205 - I took lots of notes... I will e-mail them to you!
So that's what you were thinking as you sat there quietly taking notes! I kept wondering what you were typing. I'm glad you wrote this, because this is really good!
EXACTLY.
I'm so glad we're not all the same. Besides how freeing it is, it IS awfully nice to lean on a friend whose strengths are different than mine. Good idea, God.
Perfect.
PERFECT!
such great thoughts! I love how God has surrounded me with friends that inspire me. I'm certainly not good at everything !! haha. you should ask Carol Fox about my sewing abilities! Really sad. but funny at the same time.
Last week I was crafting some paper valentines with a friend & I couldn't "get" how to fold & cut a simple paper chain. But, I countered: "-I play piano REALLY well!" *sigh"
We need each other!
